There's no point moaning about something if you can't measure it and set targets to improve it. In this talk, we take a close look at tools and methodologies for measuring performance and resource usage in Spring (and other JVM) applications. All data is good data at some level, and sometimes analysis of the right data can lead to substantial cost savings, either by choosing a new engineering path, or by retreating and saving further wasted effort. This talk sheds light on recent improvements in Spring Framework and Spring Boot, exposing some of the decisions that have been made in the process, leading to valuable new features in some cases and blind alleys in others.
